The interest in photography began with traveling, first to have simple reminders for the photo album, later the interest grew to make unique pictures. Since then we are on the constant search for extraordinary moments and motifs. The beginnings were with the Beirette SL 100 in 1975. In the following years the new camera was the Praktika EXA 1b (1979), followed by the Praktika Super TL 1000 (1985) and finally 1999 the first Canon camera with the Canon EOS 300N.

After the housing move in 1998 to the approach area of the Dresden Airport (on Approach of Runway 04), interest in the landing and starting airplanes increased. For photo albums were previously photographed airplanes with which we were on vacation. In the summer of 2001, we drove both of them to the airport to watch the aircraft landing and take off at the airport.

On the 12th of August 2001, the Dash8-300 of the Tyrolean Airlines arrived from Vienna with a special livery of the “SOS Kinderdorf” in Austria (OE-LTD). This looked so interesting that after the landing we decided to go home quickly to get the camera and go back to the airport to take a picture at take off. Fortunately, the departure was delayed about half an hour, so we were at the airport on time. This was the beginning of our “hunt” for airplanes.

In 2004 the biggest change in photography took place at all. With the Canon EOS 300D, we switched from analogue photography to digital photography. As technology continues to evolve in all areas of life, technology has also evolved in the area of digital cameras. In 2006, the Canon EOS 350D and 2012 followed the Canon EOS 600D.

The last camera change so far took place in May 2016 for the Canon EOS 7D Mark II, which is still used in the double version for taking pictures. Since 2009, we are members of the Dresden based Skybird e.V. The Skybird e.V. documents the flight movements at the local Dresden Airport (DRS).

In 2004, we were part of a television documentary about Plane Spotter. With the title "Jagd an der Startbahn" a film team accompanied Plane Spotter with their hobby.

Since June 2018, Martin is "Photo-Screener" at Jetphotos.com, the largest aviation photography website on the internet.

2004 erfolgte unsere wichtigste Umstellung in Sachen Fotografie überhaupt.
